Snow is coming down in teeny little flakes. It seems to be sticking, at least on the grass.

I'd be excited but after last year, I view snow in this area with trepidation. In Seattle you could count on it melting, you see. Last year in Maryland, I had to shovel.

It just stopped here in VA. It had better not start up again... or if it does, it had better just remain small, pretty flakes. I just bought a car with all-wheel drive -- I don't want to have to use it!

It's now stopped in MD, too. S. tells me it didn't mess up the NoVA morning commute too badly.

I'm now in a house that has Pepco as its electric company. This is very, very bad. When the power was out for three days in Bethesda this summer, Pepco's official spokesman told the press, "We don't consider a power outage an emergency."

I am so, so sorry. I can honestly say that, horrible and backward as Virginia is, I would rather live here than in progressive Maryland and have Pepco as my power company.

The articles in WaPo about them were both hilarious and desperately depressing.
