Darn it, I need a new fandom.

I'm watching Supernatural, Merlin, Castle, DWTS, Being Human, and reruns of SGA and SG-1. I'm not feeling fanficcy about any of them.

Any suggestions on fandoms? Fic recs to get me hooked? I miss fandom....

Newsies! Singing dancing pretty slashy boys! Earworms! Frolicking! An extraordinarily young Christian Bale, which made me expect Batman to put on a cowboy hat at any moment during the new movies, and who also occasionally breaks into a British accent!

Just... check out The Refuge (linked to at the bottom of the first link), which is the main slash quality-controlled archive. I have a favorites list in the archive, you'll find it on my author page. Avoid the het fic, mostly, it is the last bastion of horrible author self-inserts.

Very little darkfic or nasty angst, no ship wars, a delightful playground of a little fandom- all based on a '92 live action Disney lovable flop.

Yes, yes it does. It's the first fandom in which I can honestly say I've tried to read everything, and I'm just about caught up.

Hawaii 5-0. My recs so far.

My reading list has been exploding with the Hawaii 5-0 love. My favorite of the various tags my reading list uses is "Hawaiian manpain with pineapple and ham".

I get the sense that Hawaii 5-0 is the current fandom favorite (at least for the SGA refugees). It doesn't feel like a fandom love affair, but rather a comfortable fandom fling. I'd have to get over my bias against H50 carried over from the 70s.

How about Sherlock? Very little canon, but there's tons of well written stories.

I tried the show and couldn't get into it, but I may check out some of Mad Maudlin's Sherlock fic, just because I love alllll her work. (She's another HP writer, not sure you know her, though she's also in SGA.)

AJHall's in Sherlock? Oh, that's a great combination.

The Dresden Files is currently eating my fandom life

I'm currently, completely, head-over heals taken with The Dresden Files. It's surprisingly active fandom and got I love the fanfiction there.

I read this story (http://archiveofourown.org/works/109799) without knowing much about the fandom or the source material other than "Harry Dresden is a wizard and Gentleman John Marcone is the mafia kingpin of the Chicago outfit." Ok, so I watched the TV Dresden Files series, but there was just the one season before it was canceled and it's very different to the books. I wikipedia-ed my way through major names that came (Surprising thorough explanation of characters and books) and the rest was history.

I'm reading and loving Inception, Arthur/Eames fics—very active, new-ish fandom full of squee! And the benefit of a mere two hours of canon, for catching up.

I've also been loving the hell out of watching princessofgeeks getting sucked into Due South (and related) fandoms! I fell in love with cesperanza's and others' fics before I ever saw the canon. It's "only" 3-4 seasons long, the fandom is still going strong after over a decade off-air, and the fans are delightful and welcoming.

I enjoy Due South. It may be a good "vacation fandom" while I'm not feeling particularly fannish. Thanks to raveninthewind I've seen the first season.

My current flame is White Collar. To summarize: an FBI agent and a con artist like each other a lot, but the FBI agent's wife is so awesome and lovable that menage a trois is the only really plausible happily ever after! And they solve crime (mostly nonviolently)!

Everyone is smart and adorable and like each other most of the time. You will even grow to adore Mozzie (played by the actor who was the annoying Wormhole X-treme director in SG-1) because of the waves of awwww! infecting everyone in this show!
