2,500 in Chicago. San Francisco over 1,000 anti-war protesters arrested, huge demonstrations. 2,000 in Seattle, totally peaceful. And more protests to come.
Actually, the network news said 4,000 in Chicago. Which we take to mean probably between 5 - 7,000, because they're taking their figures from the cops, who always underestimate.
I didn't realize that was the reason for the perpetual underestimates, but I know there were a lot more in Seattle. For one thing, they didn't even count the protesters who shut down I-5, and avoided showing them on TV.
At the really huge marches in DC, they underestimate by tens of thousands - or more. I just know it takes a hell of a lot of people to shut down LSD completely for over two hours.
DAMN it was good to be there...although we are going to have to find willing Foot Slaves Against the War to give massages afterward at this rate.
