Our next victim - er - candidate: Sushi!
Jan. 15th, 2004 03:26 pmLet move along to another prolific author, the only one on the list who's collected works will probably include a 12-volume set on the same story (wink):
wikdsushi.
Remember that
amanuensis1 did open that pandora's box of write-in votes, which I will add as I notice them. The fics I select for the vote are arbitrary, but if you want to beat up one story in favour of another, remember to take it outside.. to
hpbnfdm_lives where that sort of thing is encouraged. Besides.
wikdsushi will attack you with Teefs.
Civil War
In Academia
The Beast
The Last Dance (Drama section)
The Consequences Of A Weary Mind (Humour section)
Note: These links will all take you to the same place.
The write-ins have already begun:
Fire Burn and Cauldron Double
Shedding Skin
Two
Welcome to my Nightmare
Flight
(Snickering still: I have whiplash from Sushi's nomination.)
ETA: Oh. Right. Don't forget to tell us why you're voting for whichever fic.
ETA2: Ha. And I thought this wouldn't have as many write-ins.
ETA3: I thought you should know that the steamcleaner infomercial I'm watching says - "not all steam is created equal."
I think that needs more of a sense of authority. Ah. I know --
"Confucius say, not all steam created equal."
The votes are in, and the results are (drumroll please) Here!
Other votes are Maya, Amanuensis, Rushlight, Anna, Aspen, Cybele, and Cassandra Claire.

Date: 2004-01-16 12:23 am (UTC)Ooh. He actually didn't strike me as very naive until I went back and re-read chapters, but you're right. Poor Ajit really had more to learn than he thought. Poor kid. (When I wrote it, I thought I was going to be flamed from every corner of the fandom just because it was such a departure from what I'd already written. When I didn't, I started to realise just how much you guys'll let me get away with. *eg*)

Date: 2004-01-16 12:30 am (UTC)No, for some reason I prefer it to civil war - even though that was the fic which drwe me kicking and screaming into the fandom. Maybe because it was easier to relate to Sev the mislead(and who has not been), than sev the snarky potions master. Or maybe because I could actually see the screen when I read In Academia - Civil War had me crying so much it was like "Line" *sniffle, sniffle, bawl, new box of tissues* "Line", *bawl, bawl bawl* ad infinitum...
How are you feeling today by the way - any better?Oh and tattoos are addicitve, after I had mine done I had to be physically restrained from getting more- so make sure you have something to do directly afterwards!
*hugs*

Date: 2004-01-16 12:08 am (UTC)Just for the fond memories of me finding out that this fic was in fact the sequel of Marching of to war which I adored - and realizing that because I had avoided it every time it was on top of the New Fic page on FFN I now had nearly *15* (I think) chapters I could read on one sitting.
And the horror of realizing that it was not finished and waiting for every weekly update and the need to hunt this Sushi-person down, who had the whole thing finished and was making me wait and...
Ummm, for me there is just no competition, no matter how much I like the other fics.

Date: 2004-01-16 02:43 am (UTC)I think it'll have to be Civil War on the simple merit of most re-reads. I love In Academia too and the Beast was one of the best and most original novels I've read, within or without fandom. But Civil War has a special place in my heart...
Dammit, you realise what you've made me do now, don't you? I will waste the entire day reading Sushi-fics again. And I had plans for today! But who needs to clean or eat anyway?

Date: 2004-01-16 02:57 am (UTC)Yeah! I haven't done either in about three days. Are there supposed to be pixies hanging from my ceiling fan?
(The moral of the story is: If you feed Sushi nothing but small quantities of orange juice and Pop Tarts for long enough, the resulting hallucinations make it aaalllll worth it.)

Date: 2004-01-16 09:27 am (UTC)Er. *hat in hand* Might I have permission to write Percy Weasley in a number of embarrassing and compromising (http://www.livejournal.com/community/merry_smutmas/36713.html#cutid1) situations? I'll treat him well, and make sure he has, er, lots of fun in the process.
Mostly.

Date: 2004-01-16 03:33 am (UTC)I love everything of Sushi's, of course--I cried so much during The Last Dance that I nearly ruptured something--and I cried even MORE, if that were possible, when I read Two.
Just. Two. I'd rather Harry were DEAD than with someone else--and that discovery shocked me, because I didn't realize I was quite such a Snarry shipper! But Severus' loss... his... oh. I couldn't bare it.
Still, The Beast is my vote because it is the most stylistically accomplished work of them all--at least I think so--and is the most mature. It has a perfect sense of timing and drama, and is intriguing not only for its characterization of Harry-cum-Voldemort but also for its fascinating take on the workings of magic and the society of house-elves.
So. Sushi. <333333333
Write more, you teef.

Date: 2004-01-16 05:07 am (UTC)*waves notes for the original adaptation of The Beast in a tempting manner* (Frankly, I think the original version is going to kick the fanfic's ass all over the map. I am having so much fun with this thing, and I haven't even started the actual writing!)
Thank you! =) **huggles**

Date: 2004-01-16 07:14 am (UTC)Civil War is amazing; I've read it too many times to be considered sane. It's so memorable, too! My friends and I are always throwing quotes back and forth. Ahhh, the snarkines.
But The Last Dance is so heartbreaking. It killed me; I must have walked around like a zombie for a week. I've only read it twice, just because of the tear-jerker factor. *sigh*
I'm going to go with Civil War; I couldn't forgive myself if I chose anyhing else. ;)
