Not relationship centric. Someone's complicated plot-bunny that doesn't grab me at all.

Oh, it's not even a pairing. They want a particular plot and if Ron's with anyone, he's with Hermione. But they specifically ask that the relationship not be the center of it.

Trust me, I insisted Draco/Ron was impossibility. My Ron (back then) was at best straight!bendable and Draco while plausibly queer (or hedonistically queer) and the two didn't get along. I saidL "they'd have to be forced into it." Ooops.

I got R/Hr too, and while I don't dislike it...well, it's certainly not my cup of tea. And mine is non-romance, too. I suppose boring is better than utter squickage, though, and this does give me a chance to go back and have an actual look at *gasp!* canon.

I got Ron/Draco. Post Hogwarts. Now, I can do Ron/Draco, in Hogwarts, but I'm not figuring out why on earth they would meet after Hogwarts...

If you'd just gotten R/Hr, I'd be sweet and offer to switch, but as I have NO clue what to do with Mad's plotbunny and I have zero time to write I really can't. I'm sorry for you. Although, I know Mads pretty well, and no matter what you do with it, she'll be delighted, I guarantee.

Bingo! Got it in one. It's so specific, it leaves very little room for interpretation. I'm glad she's flexible because... *Icarus goes cross-eyed.*

Oh there's all kinds of reasons. Don't forget how small the wizarding world is. They'd probably bump into each other all the time. Tossing out ideas here:
- There could be a Hogwarts school reunion (well, that's American).
- One of his brothers could marry a highclass pureblood (ha, wouldn't it be funny if it were one of the twins, though Percy's the most likely candidate) who's Draco's cousin. They meet at the wedding reception.
- Draco goes on trial and Ron knows he's innocent and has to overcome his dislike and vote his conscience.
- Lucius goes on trial, and Ron has to interrogate the main witness: Draco.
- In the middle of battlefield, an injured Draco has to ask for Ron's help. Much snarling ensues. Or angsty - the 'help' is that Draco would rather die than live crippled/be captured.
- The two of them could be looking each other up, years later, after their clandestine relationship at Hogwarts.
- The twins' successful business have an unexpected investor: Draco Malfoy.

The possibilities are endless.

I have no advice for you about the Ficathon, but if you can do something so wonderful for Hagrid/Buckbeak I've no doubt you will do something great with this, too. :-)

They've done studies showing that if you give human beings completely random data (such as a map of the bomb craters in London from the Blitz) they will infer patterns. I think that's what's going on here.

I, for instance, have a pairing weirdly similar to the pairing I wrote for the last challenge I was involved in-- and that was completely unrelated and about a year ago.
