Hell of a day.

So far today --

Good:

- Out Of Bounds vid! Thank you, starrylizard!

- wildernessguru's better, and I'm better, illness-wise. Still coughing but not awful.

Bad:

- WG's mom has been moved into the hospice and has been given two weeks to live. I don't know what to do about flight arrangments. I was thinking of going down on the weekend of the 6th, but what happens if...

- wildernessguru's sister emailed, saying she called us 6-7 times Sunday. We waited seven hours for her. We're on dial-up. It is phone or computer. She left it open-ended. We didn't know if she was going to call or not.

- wildernessguru's work needs a "return to work" form from his doctor for the bronchitis. The doctor doesn't know what this is, so they're making WG come in for another appointment. No, he just needs a form stating the diagnosis so he can go to work tomorrow. It's a euphemism for "prove that you've been sick because your job's on the line." Great timing to be sick.

- I didn't write the five-page paper the honors program. So much going on right now. Too much.

- I'm so far behind on Sanskrit between snow days and being sick I don't see any hope of catching up. I'm about to go to another humiliating Sanskrit class.

- Buddhist grad class homework: so far behind. I thought I'd get caught up this weekend but just, ach.

Um. Hell of a day.

wildernessguru's mom and the nationals.

WG's mother has taken a turn for the worse. She's fading fast. The plan was to fly up on February 3rd to see her. Well, the real plan was to fly up in March, then the plan was changed to February 19th and that long weekend, then it adjusted to the 10th then....

Now we're told she won't make it to the 3rd.

I've told wildernessguru that if it's his last chance to see his mother, I'll miss the nationals, sell the ticket on EBay or Craigslist, go with him to Sacremento this weekend. He's offered to go down without me. Right. Go to the nationals while... sure. There's only one right thing to do.

I've gotta say this hurts though. On about a dozen different levels, not the least of which is that skating and Out Of Bounds is how I'm escaping the gloom.

You know, I really thought that the day had hit its nadir this morning.



ETA: Cracked out those Buddhist practices when WG was crying and, whoa. You know, this religion thing's good for something, isn't it? I forgot. *snort* Too busy wearing the religion on my sleeve and not doing it. *eyeroll*

What I want to do, and we're trying to do, is go to see her sooner. Friday. Then I want to give him a ticket to the nationals (it's not sold out) and fly from Sacramento to Spokane. That way he'll have a distraction afterwards and we'll be together.
