Okay, made good progress in the starter kit. I've ruthlessly culled the list down from its massive proportions consisting solely of novel-length stories to just One short story and One novel per pairing.

Mostly.

Here's what we still need:

One-shots:
Snape/Lucius: Can you recommend a good one-shot?
Remus/Sirius: Do you know any good one-shots?
Draco/Neville: I know there have got to be some good one-shots.

Novel-length:
Snape/Lupin: Are there any novel-length?
Harry/Lucius: Are there any novel-length? Or reasonably long?
Snape/Draco: Any novel-length? How 'bout just really, really long?

Both:
Percy/Oliver: No one recommended a single story!
Percy/Lucius: Need one-shot and novel (if available, ha)

My Gen Recs are pretty skimpy, as are my Het Recs, though this list is slash-oriented and I say that up front.

For those who go straight for the Porn, I'm looking for recs for the following NC-17 one-shots (mostly because all the kink I read involves Percy, eheh):

Magical Bond
Threesome
Incest
Exhibitionism
Voyeurism
Bondage
S&M

The fine print: I'm still not including WiPs (we can torment them later...), though series fics like The Tea Series are acceptable.

My own fics are only considered if more than one person suggests them, since this is my journal and it's likely people who read it also read my stories. If my own fics are suggested, they're still subject to being culled if I think there's something that's more representative of the pairing (i.e., so far only Beg Me For It has made the cut).

ETA: Yes, self-pimping is allowed. But if your Harry/Snape story is up against The Tea Series, your chances of being included are slim.

ETA2: Pants first, then shoes. Let me post the list before you bash it. If you bash it before it's been posted, it sounds like a personal issue instead a qualm with the list. Since you haven't read the list yet.

ETA3: No anti-recs, please. People are going out of their way to look up links, et al. If you have a qualm about a fic recommended, please email me instead.

ETA4: Definition of a one-shot. Er. Mine's sort of vague. Basically a story without chapters that doesn't take all night to read. But I read fast, so Helen's Close Enough is still a one-shot, though it's fairly long.

As far as Lucius/Percy, I'm resoundingly reccing your story An Elegant Man, because damn, woman. Just...damn.

*Smiles* I have a real bias towards that particular story right now. I'm in love with the pairing, and with Lucius' love handles. ;)

I'm debating Rituals and Traditions versus Night Over Azkeban for a category called Sex Magic. I'm leaning towards R&T, though there's a desperation and tension to Night that's really representative of the kink.

For magical bonds... well, Purification is heading in that direction, but we're not there yet. All I know is Cybele's [french name that's impossible to spell]. Cluegirl's sounds perfect. What's the pairing?

A World Not So Black And White I will need to re-read and see if I rec it as opposed to another Harry/Lucius. I wish Switchknife hadn't abandoned her If Thine Enemy. It would have been perfect.

What's the trio in Of Wolf and Man?

Let me know when your Snape/Draco is done, and also [livejournal.com profile] hp_femme would be very interested.

Cluegirl's is Severus/Harry, although there are other pairings involved (such as Lucius/Harry, Peter/Harry, and a couple others).

Of Wolf and Man is Sirius/Remus/Harry, and a delicious one at that. Maeg is currently working on a sequel as well, Call of the Wild, which will (hopefully) be posted in another couple months, which is why I thought it might be a good fic to whet the readers' appetites.

And will do! As soon as Inheritance is done, I'll be starting another one anyhow. I'm determined to make Severus/Draco novel-length fics easier to find in this fandom. :D

I'd like to second the rec for An Elegant Man. It was funny and cute and sweet in just the right parts and the characterization was marvelous.

I'll also put a vote in for 'An Elegant Man' for the Percy/Lucius selection.

Rituals and Traditions v Night Over Azkaban

Loving both authors and both fics, my money is on Rituals and Traditions, if it's for beginners. It's one of the first hardcore fics I read and it's really good when you're at that stage of "I am so grossed out by all the graphic detail here!". Because it has this humorous dialogue and really quick pace, you can read it for the humour without dwelling on the detail (unless you want to!).

Also, I'd be careful about putting A World Not So Black and White in a *starter* kit. Don't forget the graphic Harry/Sirius absue which sets up the story. Unless you're already innured to rapefic from other fandoms, it's *very* confronting. (That said, the Harry/Lucius extended mix sex scene in that fic is, in the whole entire fandom, the scene I have read and re-read most often - mmmmm!!)

Yeah, I think you're right about Rituals And Traditions. I also have Hijja's Art Of War in the Gen recs, so it's good to spread the recs around different authors.

Yeah, see that's why I'm wavering about both A World Not So Black And White and Beg Me For It. They've both been recommended by several people, but the rape in them....

I see Beg Me For It in a different light, for two reasons. One, you don't see the rape, or at least not the horrible Crabbe/Goyle/Draco one. Second, the way you tell it all from Ron's easy-going POV makes the grossest violence more palatable - it's like you have a friendly presence holding your hand the whole way through.

If you're not sure (and, hell, I'm not sure myself! It's so hard to see them from a newbie POV), you need some Test Newbies to approach these fics and let you know what squicked them.

Also - I hope I didn't sound anti-A-World-Not-So-Black-And-White. I worship that fic.

And I *love* Hijja's Art of War obsessively - so glad to see that on the list!

You didn't come across that way at all. I just had a few conversations that were heading into dangerous territory, so I figured I'd better head them off at the pass.

I've had people stop reading Beg Me For It at the arena scene, (the part with the clowns), because it was just too much.
