The old man is going to sacrifice himself for his youngest son. Ah! The melodrama.

Ooops. I'm mistaken, the brother who had joined the corrupt forces saves the day.

I'm in tears. This is so bad, it's almost funny.

There go the violins again....

*plays violins* They always sound like cats being skinned. Maybe I never really had the talent for it, but violins are weird.

Well, I used to play in an orchestra, and the violin comes closest of all instruments to the human voice. But it's extremely manipulative to cue the dramatic violin voice just to twinge the heartstrings. I mean, get this, I was in the kitchen cooking, was trying not to listen to the damned film and I was still being affected, just because of the music.

They used every cheap trick in the book to get around having any depth whatsoever to their characters or explaining their motivations.

I love violins. When they're played well. Manipulative wooden bits. There are times the score's better than the film. :P
