Woah. I've just spent the last [insert ridiculous number because I lost count] of hours talking to [livejournal.com profile] cordelia_v about Snape Manor. She now knows the entire plot as it stands now, and why I've been struggling with it.

Do I want to write this story? Even after two years it continues to haunt me.

Am I the last person to read In Between Days by [livejournal.com profile] atrata? Because if I'm not and you haven't, you must read this, as it's the finest, most uncompromisingly relentless characterisation of Snape I've ever read. Snape/Harry, NC-17.

For the time being, I'm off to write Percy/Snape. Or perhaps Jack/Daniel, I'm not sure which, but I'm writing something today.

(I literally went to her house, grabbed the ms. off her desk, and mailed it off for her)

I am so impressed.

WG says that Percy would be too much work for Snape to dominate, but he just doesn't understand Percy drive to achieve: he's actually quite low-maintenance and useful. It's very hard to find a sub like Percy, who's persistent without being demanding, utterly obedient without being passive.

I'm not sure you'd be so positive, if you'd been in her shoes. I did warn her that I was going to come do that on Feb. 15th, but . . I don't think she took me seriously. When I took the ms and walked out with it, she was not pleased. But she had a problem getting tenure (as it later turned out), so she ended up thanking me, since she would have lost her job, if it hadn't been in press by then.

*snickers and shakes her head* Oh no, come to the American Historical Convention meeting. People like that will be easy to find there, I promise.
