Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is brought to us by Fred C. He says: "Just once I'd like to see Draco beg Ron for sexual pleasure."

Jesus. What would that take? Other than the tired love potion, Polyjuice, yadda-yadda.

Dear Icarus...

am just taking the time to review your fic 'Primer to the Dark Arts'. I have really enjoyed the way you took the more absurd moment in JKR's work and turned them into an awkward, rather touching yet sexy treatment of young people exploring their sexuality. There is also he fascinating premise of Harry getting these lessons, and starting to empathise- slowly- with Snape. The pacing is slighlt quick for me- but then, I like alot of exposition- but it truely well done.
I like the last chapter, ith Harry botching the magic that snape had him sumon. It is pitch perfect with what goes on these books- that sometimes, magic is quite unpredictable!
One small thing- with Harry trying to hide his love from Ron, and yet allowing himself to be Ron's friend, even when he is experimenting with others- namely Hermione. Harry is a quiet sort, and introspective, but surely he would feel a bit conflicted at the thought of sharing his friend in such an intimate way?
Well, that is all for now.

Thank you! I've seen your stuff around. You Beta for MHC, right?

To answer your question about Harry putting up with Ron fooling around with Hermione...

On a practical level, Harry doesn't blame Ron, because he knows he lied, so Ron has no reason to think he's hurting Harry. Remember these are guys. Sex does not mean emotional involvement. They both know that. Ron did what was expected of a guy: 'you're okay with this, right?' Among guys, since Harry lied and said 'yeah' - that's enough. He has no right to be angry about it. Especially since he helped Ron and Hermione get together in the first place (damned Gryffindor nobility). Recall chapter Four, oh so long ago. (If Harry were a girl, s/he would be really, really, hurt.)

On an emotional level, Harry cares a lot about Ron. The relationship has changed. Harry is more vulnerable where Ron is concerned, so he's more careful with him than if he only thought of Ron as a friend. Unlike the GoF, Harry's too invested in Ron, so is not willing to risk getting angry. So Harry's anger is buried instead. More guy-stuff.

Add to that the fact Harry hasn't examined his feelings at all. He hasn't even realized that he's holding onto something in hopes of getting Ron back, nor has he weighed whether it's worth the risk to the friendship. He's not even aware that he's waiting(hoping) for Ron's thing with Hermione to pass.

And gosh darn it, Harry's being Gryffindor-ish noble. And that much he is aware of, he made a conscious decision to help Ron with Hermione. Stiff upper lip then. They're his friends after all, even though he hated it.

But that stunt in the Gryffindor bedroom was too much. Harry almost lost it there.

The next morning, if Snape hadn't stopped Harry, Harry would have ended up spilling his feelings to Ron without ever stopping to see what they were first. *ahem* That's not the best way to deal with something complicated. It was almost a disaster.

Yes, MHC and I putter stuff around.
Ah, i see where you are going now- and I see you have thought about Harry's state of being. I can (and did) see the guy issues- buried feelings, inappropiates bursts of anger, stiff upper lip (actually, quite British), etc. Snape's remarks to him then do make a great deal of sense.
Thank you.
:-)

I write the weird stuff- the Snape/Dumbledore. Whoo-boy.
