Am I the only one who finds LJ's new layout frightening?

Okay, I can stop stalling now and confess: I have a steaming pile of crow to eat, with a side order of lightly seasoned hat (fleece cap, thanks for asking).

I just spent two days reading SGA (Stargate Atlantis) fic. I was late for class becausse I couldn't tear myself away from [livejournal.com profile] astolat's A Beautiful Lifetime Event and I've already read Oblivious twice. I only remember the names of those two stories because:

a) they're already favorites, and
b) I'd finally slowed down in my insatiable fic-gorging long enough to read the titles.

I have fallen helplessly for Rodney McKay. With a side order of Sheppard. I confess, I've been (shame faced) watching the show (first season) on Saturday nights, just to get another glimpse of McKayness.

For three weeks.

But I was sure I could quit any time. Absolutely positive. After all, hadn't I pointed out that the production values were weak, the acting largely laughable, and... oh hell.

I have a great idea though. I'm sure I can break my addiction by reading lots of McKay/Sheppard fic (shut up, you know it'll work and if it doesn't, think of the benefits!).

Fandom, Stargaters, rec me your favorite McKay/Shep fics as a form of, uh, immersion/aversion therapy. Yeah, that's what it is.

Rodney. It's all about the Rodney.

(And Beautiful Lifetime Event is probably one of the best stories I've ever read!)

Check out live journal users Kaneko's latest (just go to her LJ, it's the top entry, I think. It's AU but brilliant dialogue/characterisation.

Astolat's No Refunds, no Exchanges is rather sweet - another AU.

There are a whole bunch more - I suggest you wander through the recs on Double Treat - her recs are of an excellent quality.

Yes, in fact I'm thinking of starting a cult. Care to join? If you get in on the ground floor you can be part of the inner circle.

You know I was just talking to [livejournal.com profile] lizardspots about AUs. I find prefer stories that add canon rather than subtract.

Where? Where can I find these recs? (I can stop any time, I can stop any time....)

I'm totally into Cult of Rodney. It's all about him, no doubt. I even have the T Shirt (in the post, I hope).

I'm not a fan of AUs, but some are so good, they overcome my bias. Hindsight, by, er, whoever wrote that, is also brilliant. Those few I've recced are close, but just slightly left of canon - but the characterisations are perfect.

Double Treat recs the best stuff, I loved at least a third of what's on there. Once you've finished there, I can point you to some other good rec sites.

Ooo! No Refunds, no Exchanges is wonderful. It didn't kick off any of my "I-don't-believe-this-AU" warning buzzers, and how I loved how it just seemed so... plausible. It could really have gone down that way.

Ah, I'm really enjoying Double Treat's recs. Good call.

As for the cult, what do you think Rodney would like -- full, life-sized statue, covered in gold?

Then try Kaneko's Intersections, and Hindsight. I saw someone else recced with links. They are both just too good to dismiss because they are AU.

A statue would be good, he'd like the ego boo, but really I think he'd prefer that it was made of chocolate, perhaps coffee creme filled, and that he could eat it. And that there were a few of them. Perhaps one a week. Presented by naked hot babes, or Sheppard, naked. With chocolate. And coffee. And his cat.

Double Treat sounds interesting; how can I find these recs? (sorry to be so dense!)
