SGA fans, once you're done chortling could you please dole out the fic?

Am I the only one who finds LJ's new layout frightening?

Okay, I can stop stalling now and confess: I have a steaming pile of crow to eat, with a side order of lightly seasoned hat (fleece cap, thanks for asking).

I just spent two days reading SGA (Stargate Atlantis) fic. I was late for class becausse I couldn't tear myself away from astolat's A Beautiful Lifetime Event and I've already read Oblivious twice. I only remember the names of those two stories because:

a) they're already favorites, and
b) I'd finally slowed down in my insatiable fic-gorging long enough to read the titles.

I have fallen helplessly for Rodney McKay. With a side order of Sheppard. I confess, I've been (shame faced) watching the show (first season) on Saturday nights, just to get another glimpse of McKayness.

For three weeks.

But I was sure I could quit any time. Absolutely positive. After all, hadn't I pointed out that the production values were weak, the acting largely laughable, and... oh hell.

I have a great idea though. I'm sure I can break my addiction by reading lots of McKay/Sheppard fic (shut up, you know it'll work and if it doesn't, think of the benefits!).

Fandom, Stargaters, rec me your favorite McKay/Shep fics as a form of, uh, immersion/aversion therapy. Yeah, that's what it is.

Less than one week into my obsession and I've already seen the entire first season (and am considering a rewatch) and started in on McKay/Shep fic...

You know what? I'm not freakish about spoilers on this show. I think it's because unlike SG-1, I haven't been a fan since 1999.

So I'm causally watching the episodes as they pop up -- though I seriously need to see the pilot. I've got the Genii, the Wraith, got seriously hooked on Rodney (with Shep), I still think we need to give Weir an IV drip but I like her. And then... I started reading the fic.

Guh. More.

Weir grows on you. I was all meh about her at first, but by the last ep of the first season, I really liked her.

Teyla, though...enh. She bugs me. My sister's become a fan with me, and we were discussing Teyla over dinner last night. Our opinion? She's too Mary Sueish for us right now. She's always right and always wise and always good and it's BLECH. Although I've been told she grows on you during season 2.

The Wraith. LOVE the Wraith. As Isolde points out the women look like Marilyn Manson and the men look like Lucius Malfoy. Only with really bad dental hygeine.

And I am so with the Rodney love. I adore him. And I love Shep. And Zelenka! They're smart, funny, sexy--what's not to love? :D

And is the fic not absolute crack? I haven't been this sucked into stories since I first started reading HP fic....

Wow, that's weird because it's exactly the same with me. I was really blah about slash any fics until Harry Potter came around. And now I have that feeling all over again, I feel alive and happy and I can't wait for the next fic to come out (not to mention the next episode)

In season 2 she greats really cute, not to mention frazzled at times. She really does grow on you, it might be Ronon (oh you're going to love him! *grins*) but she just seems more human now. I won't say anything else, but yeah, she really does get very cute in season 2.

I'm fond of the wraith ships, actually, and Atlantis itself, which creepily makes me think I've really been reading too much Rodney.
