Am I the only one who finds LJ's new layout frightening?

Okay, I can stop stalling now and confess: I have a steaming pile of crow to eat, with a side order of lightly seasoned hat (fleece cap, thanks for asking).

I just spent two days reading SGA (Stargate Atlantis) fic. I was late for class becausse I couldn't tear myself away from [livejournal.com profile] astolat's A Beautiful Lifetime Event and I've already read Oblivious twice. I only remember the names of those two stories because:

a) they're already favorites, and
b) I'd finally slowed down in my insatiable fic-gorging long enough to read the titles.

I have fallen helplessly for Rodney McKay. With a side order of Sheppard. I confess, I've been (shame faced) watching the show (first season) on Saturday nights, just to get another glimpse of McKayness.

For three weeks.

But I was sure I could quit any time. Absolutely positive. After all, hadn't I pointed out that the production values were weak, the acting largely laughable, and... oh hell.

I have a great idea though. I'm sure I can break my addiction by reading lots of McKay/Sheppard fic (shut up, you know it'll work and if it doesn't, think of the benefits!).

Fandom, Stargaters, rec me your favorite McKay/Shep fics as a form of, uh, immersion/aversion therapy. Yeah, that's what it is.

go find Speranza (http://www.trickster.org/speranza)'s and Resonant (http://www.trickster.org/res)'s stuff--it's amazing, and they even have a shared story between them. Also, [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock deals the good crack (He's Having Her Baby! and He's Having His Baby! are both f***ing brilliant).

Oh, I've already read [livejournal.com profile] resonant8's top stories (saving a few for later). Speranza's incredible. Absolutely fucking incredible. I have [eaten] [devoured] [absorbed] [delighted in] all her SGA fics in the last half hour. Thank you. What a wonderful insightful and original writer. Gah. Rodney's last email. The first night. Shep in the chair.

Holy cow. More.

Ces deals me the best fandoms. She got me into Sentinel, Due South, Dead Zone, AND SGA. She's my media fandom pimp, no question.

Have you read Shalott's No Refunds or Exchanges (http://www.livejournal.com/community/sga_flashfic/151595.html)? It's not on her website yet, but it was during the Harlequin challenge on [livejournal.com profile] sga_flashfic and it's freaking AMAZING.

Okay, scary holy cow Batman vibe -- I just finished reading it te seconds ago. I'm not a fan of AU that erases large chunks of history (or takes the characters out of their proper environment darn it) but this sort? Where the slight shift is so damned plausible in canon? So cool.
