Yes. I thought it was probably going to be Sirius.
I think I'm not going to write Snape Manor now. I'm stunned. The description of Sirius' house is so much like what I had in mind for Snape Manor. She had infestations, I had more magical objects. She had screaming portraits of old relatives, I had relatives appearing in reflections - but it's so close to Snape Manor, and the feel of it, that I was totally discouraged as I read those scenes.
On the other hand, the description of the Ministry is exactly what I needed for 'Beg Me For It.' Glad I haven't written 'SNAFU' yet.

You can do it, I have faith.
Re: Noooooooooooooooooooo!
Date: 2003-06-23 12:14 am (UTC)I'm going back and forth about it. Part of the story is about Snape's ex, Torvald, which is completely uneffected by the changes. It was just... a punch in the gut to see my story already written. It's such a thrill to take canon and go beyond it, but now canon has caught up with me while I was holding still. I was writing it, but waiting really for when OotP came out since I thought we'd learn more about Snape's backstory and wanted to incorporated it.
Maybe a major rewrite. Less emphasis on the house itself and more on the development of a real relationship between Harry and Severus. Right now all there is, is sex. And a magical connection. Good sex, that has a lot of aspects to it, including a real warmth. But that's not a relationship.
