Yes, still tinkering with my site. *sigh* I though this was going to be quick and easy.

Which background color do you prefer?

A) The original simple white. Simple. Clean. Gets the job done.

B) A bit of a cream-color. It's a little easier on the eyes.

C) A dove-grey. It works with the graphic.



ETA: White and cream are almost dead-even, with one vote more in favor of cream, with grey a distant third.

Trouble is, on various monitors the colors appear very, very different. On my system, the cream is barely even a color. At school it's a wild yellow-ish color, yeesh.

I like the grey, but I wouldn't mind if it was even lighter of a grey, either. I think if you're going to go with cream, you need to make the graphic cream and maybe sepia instead of grey and white.

It is too dark. Unfortunately the lighter greys are too blue.

Second choice would be gray, but preferably a lighter gray. I saw your comment about the lighter grays being too blue... could you go with a very light taupe-gray? That'd work with your banner.

The cream is nice for visibility, but it does clash with your lovely banner.

I like the cream--I think it works overall with the color palette of the banner and links (though I appear to be in the minority on that--maybe it's my monitor). I'm having an inexplicably strong negative reaction to the gray for some reason--it works with the banner, but the colors of the links look weird (especially the visited links) and it just...it doesn't appeal to me in such large quantities. I just keep thinking "It's Microsoft gray!"

The grey reminds me too strongly of Area 52. I'm a little frustrated with my color options here. I feel asking the harried guy at the paint store: "Do you have any more swatches?"

I think I'll stick with white. If the cream went with the banner I'd go with it, but it just doesn't. The grey looks industrial.

And that way I just change two pages back and I'm essentially done for now. ;)

I prefer the white - the cream doesn't fit with anything else, and the grey is a bit downbeat for me. Maybe you could go just a tiny bit grey? As in, white except when you put it next to actual white?

I'm leaning toward C with a leg still in B. The black on white definitly strains my eye and is so... overdone. The cream gives the site a warmer feel; the gray really sets the tone for the complexity of the stories. Ah, well that's just my opinion. I see myself leaning ever toward the gray background.

Personally, I like the white. It is clean and elegant

The cream is too yellow for long hours spent reading. After a while that much yellow becomes grating.

The gray is too dark. It won't be enough contrast behind the black letters. (this is the same problem I have with Area 52)

I actually use a very slightly lighter version of the dove gray as my default browse color, as it's less hard on my eyes than the white when reading for longer than a few minutes. (C) would be my first choice, followed by (B).

I think "indecisive of me" is probably closer to the truth, but yeah, I read my fics in Word files, not my site, so I really want it to be user-friendly.
