We're leaving tonight.

WG and I have set it up so that I can go to the nationals, or I can go with him. Our tickets are completely refundable and changeable since they're booked at the last second. Now it'll be my choice whether I go. We're playing it by ear on Saturday.

WG's mom is in really bad shape. She can't eat now, she can only be spoon fed some water and some soup. She's not able to talk.

I think I'm not going to the nationals, and I don't think I regret it all. If it's this rough he's going to need me. Honestly, I doubt after seeing this, when she was lively only four weeks ago, I'll even want to go to the nationals.

I'm going to do all my homework on the flight down and tonight in the hotel room.


P.S. wildernessguru changed the arrangements so that it's possible for me to go if I want to. This way it's my decision instead something where I have no choice. *love him*

It sounds like you've reached the point where all that is left to do is love each other. Don't be afraid to be fierce in that love too. Sometimes in these situations, it is definitely called for, and from what you've said of the family interactions it may be necessary for you to step in. It's okay to remind people that the situation isn't about them and their wants, but about WG's mom and her needs. Nothing else matters, no matter how much they might want to twist it. You, as an "outsider" are in the best position to remain strong, objective, and protective. I know you can do it. {{{hugs}}}

When you said they had sent her to hospice I thought "uh -oh ... go now" and I'm glad that you have made that decision; even from all the way over here it feels like the right thing to do.
