Ducks Tour: Yes, I like this corny stuff.
Aug. 29th, 2007 11:08 pmSunshine and 80 degree weather and blue mountains sketched a wavy line across the horizon as I snuggled next to
wildernessguru and hung my arm over the side of the boat, trying to touch the water. We were surrounded by tourists and the blaring cocky music, hearing the tour guide announce things about Seattle that we'd more or less known for years but sounded better coming from him.
Mt. Rainier was a ghost on the horizon.
People live in floating two-story houses on Lake Union, did you know that? And someone built one with a basement where the windows look out under the water.
The rusted machines in Gasworks park were left there and dubbed "art" so that Seattle didn't have to deal with them.
Our apartment building in Capitol Hill is sitting on top of coal mines.
wildernessguru used to be in the world's most dangerous industry. No wonder he got more injuries fishing than fire-fighting.
And it only costs $6 and change to ride the ferry to Bainbridge island, to get out on the water under the clear blue skies again.
I think I'll do it tomorrow.
Sometimes just being out under the sun, in the wind, on the sea and sky, looking around at the pretty little city I fell in love with like a toy train set... well, a day like this feels like an afternoon of warm, playful sex. I think every bone in my body has melted into a different shape.
