I like how it smells.

wildernessguru griped about Thanksgiving.
"Do we have to do the traditional dinner every year?" he whined as I gathered my hat and coat to go out to the car for the next load of groceries.
I pointed out, "Um. Honey? I do all the cooking. And I did all the shopping this year. What are you complaining about?"
He said, "I just would rather get a pizza, do something easy this year. Do we have to be all traditional? Why do we have to have the turkey dinner?"
My first reaction was appalled shock. Then I considered it. Tradition didn't mean much to me.
"We could just do a pizza," I decided. "But...I like how Thanksgiving smells."
He's now on board.
*breathes in* Ah. Yes.
Two pumpkin pies on the table. The scent of bacon and rice stuffing in the air. I didn't bake fresh bread this year, but I do have a loaf of pumpkin bread next to the pies (pumpkin is like hot dog buns; you always have more pumpkin than you need). Yams are ready to go, acorn squash, potatoes, still have to slice up the carrots and onions ... buttered turkey is next.
Mmmm....
Happy Thanksgiving.
