It's not as though it doesn't make for a nice change. Hey, if this were the plan from the get-go, I'd have been all for it.

But am I the only person who thinks it hilarious that George Bush is trying to negotiate for peace in the Middle East?
Hours after opening a Mideast conference, President Bush said Tuesday he was worried about the consequences if the search for peace failed but declared, "It is worth it to try."

Bush cautioned it would take time for Israelis and Palestinians to reach an agreement. The goal is to reach an accord within 14 months by the end of Bush's presidency.

How are they able to keep a straight face? Why hasn't he been stoned* yet?

I'm sure this is how Bush did his exams, too. "Whoops. Well, I've still got time to cram. Hey, 14 months. That's plenty."

* The small, throwable kind of stones. We know he's been the other kind of stoned, quite possibly for the last seven years.

I saw that article headline but never had time to read through it. But just seeing it made me want *headdesk* all over.

I thought Bush was trying to stick a laurel on at the last second, but WG suggests he's trying to spiffy up the Republican image before the election year.

Crap. I'm sure he's right.

Hilarious? In a sad, twisted and ironic way, hell yeah. I didn't think that frellwit could surprise me any more with his hypocrisy and stupidity, but he's done it again. *sigh* If there is one way to ensure that any endeavors toward peace fail, it's to put that frellwit in the mix. *sighs again* I loathe that individual beyond the telling of it with mere words.

WG thinks this is to make the Republicans look better in time for the election year. I bet he's right.

Nope.

*snort*

I laughed a little less when I learned that it was probably just a stunt for the election year.

It's hilarious. I especially like the 14 month comment.

It's nice to be Canadian. :)

14 months... straight through the election year. At which point he'll drop it.

My first thought was "Is he going to jump from a really tall building?" when I saw the headlines. Seriously...

One can only hope.

WG's right, I'm sure. He thinks it's to make the Republicans look better for the election year.

I might have chuckled a bit, and then shaken my head. Although to be fair, that's my usual reaction to George Bush.

As it turned out, WG was pissed off. Apparently this was a peace conference that was already planned and Bush horned in -- thus guaranteeing that it would never work.

Sure, Mr. Bush has been trying for peace his entire presidency. The same way that he tried for financial success in his business, and the same way he tried for deer every year on his ranch.

And he has succeeded in blowing all of them away.

I thought that Bush was trying to add a last minute feather to his cap, but I think WG's right: this is all about looking better for the election year.
