Obama's speech.
Mar. 18th, 2008 10:02 pmThis is all over my friendslist.
Obama's speech.
I played it for
wildernessguru. Then asked what he thought.
"Incredible." He paused for a moment. "He'd make a great president."
He asked me what I thought.
I said, "He sees the complexities of an issue. And I agree with you. He will make a great president." I paused for a moment. "He's not out for himself."

How will it translate into action? I don't know. But I'd like to give him the chance.

Date: 2008-03-19 10:45 am (UTC)The real question is whether Obama will be our democratic candidate. With the Michigan primary revote floundering it seems it will be up to the superdelegates.

Date: 2008-03-19 08:45 pm (UTC)That's exactly what I liked about him when he was an Illinois state senator--he doesn't come up with pat answers. I think it hurts him, though, because he doesn't always translate well into sound bites.

Date: 2008-03-20 03:39 pm (UTC)That's what I always liked about him -- not only that he understands the complexities (which I think all three remaining candidates certainly do), but also that he trusts the American people enough to understand him when he addresses complex issues. I always hate it when I feel like a candidate is speaking down to me, dumbing down language or concepts in a way that creates the impression that they feel they have to be careful so as not to confuse the voters. And I've never seen a 37-minute speech that felt so short. Thanks for providing the link.
