Are there are good MPregs out there? There certainly are. New nominees, you know the drill: second these nominees in comments and they will be added to the Democratic Fic Recs page. Or add your own nominees. Please give real Author Names, not LJ names, dankeschoen.

From [livejournal.com profile] lyricalnights says:

"…a couple of my favorite MPREGs below.

Lexin and Tidmag's Unnatural (NC-17), in which we discover that Harry has some secrets of his own.

Lexin's A Life More Ordinary (NC-17), in which Harry and Snape deal with both the past and the future while struggling to make the best of a bad situation. (One of the rare good Snape-PREGs available.)"

O_O

I am so seconding Unnatural (http://www.subumbra.com/plank/lexinandtidmag-unnatural.html), although it's easy enough to find from the front page. [livejournal.com profile] lexin and Tidmag have put a huge amount of work into it, rewriting canon from the beginning to include Vernon and Petunia's response to Harry's hermaphroditism, then giving a version of Harry's fifth year (obviously written in the GoF era), realistically describing how Harry might have tried to hide it and deal with it. But after he gets pregnant, and spells start going wonky around him, he discovers that his being a pregnant hermaphrodite places him in the center of the Wizarding world and Voldemort's world, and it's all done beautifully. It's an Mpreg story that really works. I must say that I love the Hermione here; she's overly knowledgeable in an amusing way but very sympathetic. Snape is more mature than he is in canon, but very intelligent and snarky, and Draco begins as canon!Draco and loves Harry more over the course of the fic. McGonagall only has a cameo, but she rules. This seems to have been edited fairly quickly (there are a few places that need a semicolon where there's only a comma, and a few other things like that, especially near the end) but overall, it's written very well, and is certainly the best MPreg story I've read. it will take at least an hour or two to read, and is well worth it.
