They're kidding.

It's just to make a point. This is not the first time Flynt has used his porn mag to make a political point.

I realised there was some tongue-in-cheekness. (Though I had heard that the recession was doing bad things to the porn industry somewhere, actually...)

They're actually hurting in print sales but doing great online. Overall? Not hurting a bit. I imagine alcohol sales are doing well, too.

I suspect-- don't have any stats on it-- that sex workers (of the prostitutional type) might be hurting a bit, though.

A friend of mine in the industry said that the economic dramas over here were fucking up work for her-- less disposable income-- and other businesses, too. I mean, what's $25 a month for a shitload of porn compared to $100 for an hour of someone's time and some sex to some people?

(And I think porn would have gone that way, economic crisis or not. The net provides a more anonymous means of purchasing and consumption-- and it's more immediate than, say, buying some mags/vids and having to go home to view them. Nowadays you just get to upload from the comfort of your own home... To me, it's just evolution. :) )

Porn is where laziness and sex collide. Too much trouble to form relationships? Here's some easy sex for your cash dollars.
