Hi, folks. Primer to the Dark Arts has been plagiarized by someone called WhereTheGobblinsGo, renamed In The Eye Of The Beholder. I wrote this in 2002.

Please inform them they should take it down.

I have screencaps and am informing the webadmin.

Icarus

ETA: I've heard from the webadmin at hpfandom.net (within less than half an hour). She recognizes the stories, read them when they came out, and is contacting the site owner to either have them or the author removed.

Well. This is one way to find one of the few archives I haven't posted to. Frankly, this is the main reason why I started posting everywhere.

Our Primer to the Dark Arts plagiarist, WhereTheGobblinsGo has also plagiarized --

First Signs of Magic: Hermione Granger -- stolen here Didn't even bother to rename it
First Signs of Magic: Draco Malfoy -- stolen here Didn't rename it either
First Signs of Magic: Severus Snape -- stolen here Didn't renem this one either

I've taken screencaps, and am in the process of contacting the web admin. Please review the stories and tell the plagiarist to take them down. The plagiarist needs to know that she has been caught, and very quickly. These were posted today. A quick response will help convince the plagiarist that this is something she can't get away with. No need for bitter anger. Firmness is more important.

[livejournal.com profile] trevelyan_s, thank you for finding this and bringing it to my attention.

The webadmin and owner of HP Fandom.net have taken down the plagiarized copy of Primer to the Dark Arts and the First Signs of Magic series. Wow. That was fast.

They went one step further. The webadmin at hpfandom.net checked to see if WhereTheGobblinsGo plagiarized elsewhere.

Apparently WhereTheGoblinsGo has has been busy. She (it?) plagiarized Primer to the Dark Arts at another archive I've never posted to, the Silver Snitch.

Gobblin renamed it Eye Of The Beholder. She has three chapters of it there, and no reviews other than the ones telling her to take it down.

If you have a moment to review the story and inform the plagiarist she has been caught, I would appreciate it. I'm informing [livejournal.com profile] stop_plagiarism that we definitely have a serial plagiarist here.

ETA: Plagiarists must have time on their hands. I have a list if they're available. I've laundry that needs to be brought upstairs, folded, and put away, the house could use a thorough vacuuming, the cat litter reeks and needs changing, the dishes, sadly, also need to be done. I've a shopping list here -- completely out of Advil, need veggies and more chicken, cream cheese would be nice, too. These videos need to be returned. Oh, and the recycling needs to be taken out as well.

Then, uploading music for me at gigasize.com would be a tremendous help. If they have web design skills I'd like to redesign my art page and add an art recs page to my web site. I also need someone to hunt dead links on my SG-1 and HP recs pages and (especially) do the hard work of updating them. Then I'd like to add the SGA Project: Flavor of the Year to my web site recs.

For school I have two papers to write and a frightening pile of Sanskrit homework, I'm supposed to turn in some paperwork at the school to start tutoring, and I have to email the contact person about that.

If WhereTheGobblinsGo has all this free time, she can start with the recycling. And feed the cat.

2007 Fic Output. Do I need a plumber?

Usually, I write about 1-2 stories a month, with a run of drabbles somewhere in the year.

This year, with a massive WIP, my fic production seems ... low.

Out Of Bounds - word count this year ~61,000. Total word count thus far ~92,000.
Tanlines & Dogtags
No More Quasi-Religious Alien Sex Rituals
Liar's Chair
The Quick Bird On Hot Sand, aka Civilian Authority
Lost in the Temple of Law
Self Sufficiency

Then some drabbles in February:

And Liberty For All
Betrayal
Coming Attractions

I mean, I wrote 61,000 words of Out Of Bounds. Intellectually, I realize it's the equivalent of a dozen average-length 5,000 word stories.

I recognize that I had a death in the family which took a lot of time, energy, and school-and-writing-sapping enthusiasm. But still....

Compare that to 2006 -- and yes, this is normal:

The Stars Look Very Different Today
Early Birds
Necromancy for the Living
Power Napping
Compassion For The Enemy
First Time A Soldier
Last Port Of Call
About Ten Days Before The Wraith Attack
In The Spotlight (the Unicorn Remix)
Colony Atlantis
Breeding Ground
Traces Through Time

And some February/March drabbles (I drabble in winter, it seems):

Pavlovian
Appalling Hurt/Comfort Fic
Class A's
Double Bed
Doo-Wop
Pastoral Symphony
Nowhere But Up
Taking Stock
First Christmas

Plus I wrote the first 31,000 words of Out Of Bounds.

But maybe I haven't slowed. Maybe the total word count is the same, and I'm just not used to a large WIP. I could open all those stories and add all the word counts, and compare.

...

That's way too anal even for me.

I've signed up for [livejournal.com profile] sga_santa and kicked a Supernatural story out the door to keep myself moving forward. The fics must go on!
