painless_j. This seems to be one of the more stunningly self-absorbed memes rolling around, but as I have a math test I'm not ready for tomorrow that will sink all hopes of my completing my degree by June, I'm feeling like I need some distraction.
1. For those who haven't seen me / a photo of me: (that leaves you out, EA ;)
What do I look like? How you imagine me? Tall or short? Fat or skinny? What colour and length is my hair? What colour are my eyes? Am I graceful or awkward?
2. How do you all see me? Am I:
*a leader or a follower
*quiet or talkative
*spontaneous or planned
*dominant or submissive
*logical or intuitive
*social or loner
*kinky or vanilla
*cute or sophisticated
*kitten or puppy
*warm flannel sheets or sleek satin
*helpfully adviceful or just nosy
*patient or anxious
*conventional or eccentric
Color me amused. I think this would probably be easy, except for the appearance part which I never mention.

Date: 2004-12-20 01:36 pm (UTC)I know from previous posts that you're not tall ... so, I imagine you're slim and feminine, short auburn hair (perhaps with highlights or colour) and grey eyes. You are graceful, with an economy of movement (no body noise).
I think you are:
*a leader
*talkative
*planned
*dominant
*intuitive
*social or loner (kind of inbetween)
*kinky
*sophisticated
*kitten
*sleek satin
*helpfully adviceful
*patient
*conventional (on the outside)
Some of these traits are quite diverse, but I think you're just that: not quite fitting in the box-type.
Are you going to let us know how close we are? ;o)

*a leader
*a little of both (quiet or talkative)
*planned (but capable of improvising)
*dominant
*mostly intuitive, but logical, too
*loner

*neither (kitten or puppy)

Date: 2004-12-20 02:10 pm (UTC)As for the others...hm. A lot of these are things that aren't mutually exclusive. But, let's see...
* leader
* talkative...and quiet, depending on the situation
* planned
* dominant
* logical but with a major intuitive streak
* social loner? :D (Yes, we do exist...)
* kinky, darling *mmmwah*
* cute
* kitten
* flannel sheets
* helpfully adviceful (mo'definitely, having benefitted from that advice myself...)
* hard one here. I'm going to say patient with others, anxious about yourself.
* you present a conventional exterior, but once you get to know you, you're delightfully, deliciously eccentric.

Date: 2004-12-20 03:43 pm (UTC)Tallish, pale Caucasian, with blackity black hair in a style that sort of like the bastard love child of a pageboy and the Rachel cut, only infinitely more hip, and round black plastic glasses. And built to kick ass, like Linda Hamilton in "Terminator." I imagine you could bust out some sort of kung-fu grip at any moment. (And even though I know better, my mental image of you still looks about twenty-five to thirty. I guess you come off as youthfully vibrant. Either that, or my knowledge of people over the age of thirty-five is restricted to teachers and my parents. But I'll favor the vibrant one.)
Matilda Baggins again...
Date: 2004-12-20 04:52 pm (UTC)1. What do I look like? How you imagine me? Tall or short? Fat or skinny? What colour and length is my hair? What colour are my eyes? Am I graceful or awkward?
Um, I imagine you being sort of thin, graceful, and of average height with shoulder-length brown hair and brown eyes. That's pretty generic, really. Sorry.
2. How do you all see me? Am I:
*a leader or a follower
Neither: you're someone who follows her own instincts but doesn't attempt to lead others.
*quiet or talkative
Both: you're talkative when you're comfortable with the person and generally quiet otherwise.
*spontaneous or planned
I'd guess you're mostly spontaneous.
*dominant or submissive
Hmmmm ... No clue, really. :) Neither?
*logical or intuitive
Definitely intuitive.
*social or loner
Loner.
*kinky or vanilla
Ummm, it probably depends on the situation, but overall: kinky.
*cute or sophisticated
Are these mutually exclusive traits? Sophisticated, I think.
*kitten or puppy
Kitten, of course. You have one. :)
*warm flannel sheets or sleek satin
Probably sleek satin. Or maybe you're very practical. I wouldn't know.
*helpfully adviceful or just nosy
I've never thought of you as nosy. I think you're most likely to try to cheer someone up. I'm not sure if that counts as advice, though.
*patient or anxious
I'd say mostly anxious, but you can be very patient too.
*conventional or eccentric
Definitely eccentric.
--Best of luck on your math test.

Date: 2004-12-20 08:11 pm (UTC)With regards to your appearance . . . I hate to speculate in the absence of any evidence. But judging from your comments about your health problems earlier this fall, I'd guess that you're average weight or slender (not plump) and perhaps petite. As for coloring, etc, I have no idea.
With regard to those personality profile adjectives:
*a leader or a follower? A leader
*quiet or talkative? Not sure. You're talkative, online.
*spontaneous or planned? Spontaneous. You can do planned, if you have to. But you don't seem to enjoy it.
*dominant or submissive? Dominant
*logical or intuitive? Actually, I think you are relatively adept at both. That's rare.
*social or loner? Social
*kinky or vanilla? That's a question, in your case? Kinky, of course.
*cute or sophisticated? Sophisticated
*kitten or puppy? Puppy
*warm flannel sheets or sleek satin? I have no idea, really. In your climate, satin is at least an option (where I live, it's currently below 0, so I'd choose the flannel!)
*helpfully adviceful or just nosy? You'd give advice before you'd be nosy.
*patient or anxious? Well, the opposite of patient is not anxious, but impatient. And yes, I would see you as impatient, rather than patient. Certainly, you appear to have a low tolerance for fools . . .
eccentric, naturally

Date: 2004-12-21 10:04 am (UTC)I am 5'1", but here's the odd thing: people are generally surprised that I'm that small, even when they've known me for years and they're looking at me. Can someone 'seem' taller?
And you are skinny.
Quite. Dainty is the word, with teeny, tiny feet.
You have brown eyes and dark blonde/light brown hair that is maybe down to your shoulders.
Close. Brown eyes, dark brown hair, but yep, shoulder length, in dire need of a haircut.
You are graceful-ish, but look silly when you dance. :D
:D In my opinion I look silly when I dance. But according to a dance teacher I have a "natural grace, it's a pity she doesn't take this more seriously."
*a leader
I'm certainly not a follower, but I avoid leading whenever I can.
*quiet *and* talkative, depending
Talkative, but I've learned to shut up and let others speak.
*planned
I've learned to plan, but I prefer to just take things as they come when I have a choice. My brother and I used to go for "drives." What this meant is we'd gas up our car, gather up a pile of good driving music, and then deliberately get lost on unfamiliar roads. No one who likes to plan would do that. :D
*dominant
Very.
*logical
I'm both actually, which is very odd. I think I'm more naturally intuitive, but I don't trust intuition so I run it through a thorough analysis to be sure.
*social *and* loner, depending
I veer pretty far towards loner, actually. I've always had only a handful of carefully picked friends who need a crowbar to pry me out of the house. Among those friends I'm the "idea" man, however.
*kinky
Dead on!
*sophisticated
Gosh, I've been called both. I don't know. When people talk about how I look, it's always "cute." But my tastes in music, furniture, et al tend towards the elegant rather than cutesy. In fact, I think you have it, because I detest cute.
*puppy
Kitten! Oh, purring kitten every time.
*warm flannel sheets
Yep. Satin's nice, but I hate that first moment of cold when you touch satin.
*helpfully adviceful
Definitely. People have alway come to me with the really rough situations in their lives, because I don't blink.
*patient
Depends on the subject. Patient with other people, not so patient with myself.
*eccentric
I have a good "normal" facade that I developed in the corporate world, but, ah, I've never been called normal by people who know me. ;)
Wow. You did pretty good.

Date: 2004-12-21 10:22 am (UTC)I know from previous posts that you're not tall ...
*g* Not even remotely.
so, I imagine you're slim and feminine,
Yep. WG says "you feminine thing, you."
short auburn hair (perhaps with highlights or colour) and grey eyes.
Oh, your version's so much prettier. I have brown hair and brown eyes. But my brother and I both got the long kitten-y eyelashes, of the sort that doesn't need mascara.
You are graceful, with an economy of movement (no body noise).
I used to be a "choepen," which is a sort of Buddhist altar-boy (girl?) only much more involved. You had to do everything silently, unnoticed, like a cat.
I think you are:
*a leader
Definitely not a follower, but I rarely lead either, except by default. I don't like the attention.
*talkative
Yep. It's a family trait.
*planned
Suprisingly, it took me years to learn how to plan - though now I'm quite good at it. I prefer to just toss all plans out the window if I can. But in this life that's generally not possible, you get nothing done. My one big concession to my desire for not-planning: I haven't worn a watch since 1992.
*dominant
Oh yeah, have no doubt about that.
*intuitive
Yes. I definitely lean towards intuition, but just like I've learned to plan, I've learned to process intuition very carefully. For example, someone gave me a bad feeling and I couldn't tell what it was. As a kid I would just not trust that person and avoid them. But now I would review the conversation until I pinpointed the exact moment they said something with hard eyes and a slightly fake smile and realize: "Oh. She was lying to me there."
*social or loner (kind of inbetween)
Loner, but social with my friends. But I can be quite chatty with people I don't know, if carefully superficial. My brother and I were trained from an early age to be ornamental in the cocktail party world.
*kinky
Oh yes.
*sophisticated
I tried to figure this one out above (because, no, I don't know the answers to these really except for the obvious ones). I've decided that teeny people can't easily do sophisticated, they're stuck with cute, but that my tastes definitely run towards the elegant.
*kitten
Purrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
*sleek satin
I believe that always pick what feels good (silk, rayon, cotten). Satin's a little cold to the touch for me. :)
*helpfully adviceful
Yes. I don't ask personal questions, so people have to let me know.
*patient
With other people and students, yes. With myself, perfection or else.
*conventional (on the outside)
Ha! You nailed it. I can "pass" for normal.
Some of these traits are quite diverse, but I think you're just that: not quite fitting in the box-type.
Are you going to let us know how close we are? ;o)
That was fun.

Date: 2004-12-21 08:36 pm (UTC)You do seem taller. You must just write like an amazon.
And I am so jealous of the car rides w/ the brother. I need me a brother. My sister is okay, but she's, like, eight, so no driving for ages and ages.

Date: 2004-12-21 09:32 pm (UTC)My brother and I are less than a year apart, which makes him... hmm... late 30's. :D Been driving a while.
There were good sides to being attached at the hip for so many years, though you couldn't've told us that at the time (at least not when we were in the middle of our numerous squabbles).

Date: 2004-12-21 11:23 pm (UTC)That sounds Great. I've post-poned my test till Monday, just because I realise I'm too stressed right now. My Y!M is icarusancalion whenever you have time (tomorrow? Thursday?).
You're one of the few people I know on-line whom I don't have a good picture of in my head. I'm not even going to try to guess what you look like.
Very wise. I rarely describe myself.
*a leader
The more I think about it, in the spectrum of things, yes, probably.
*a little of both (quiet or talkative)
Generally quite notoriously talkative, actually.
*planned (but capable of improvising)
Ah. I've had to learn to plan. Years of lists and 7 Habits of Highly Successful People and scheduling books. Now, sometimes I overdo it.
*dominant
Quite.
*mostly intuitive, but logical, too
You're right, yeah, dead on. (How do people figure these things out, anyway?)
*loner
I'd say so (notes crowbar friends used to use to get me away from the piano).
*vanilla
;) Quite kinky, actually. Though WG definitely wins the prize in the kinky category. What? You thought I made up all those cross-dressing stories?
*sophisticated
I've decided I'll go with sophisticated. It describes the conscious choices I've made, though I can't help being described as cute. Never send me a card with a cute picture on it, I may be sick.
*neither (kitten or puppy)
Oh, kitten. Piles of kittens, preferably.
*warm flannel sheets
Only the softest and the warmest.
*helpfully adviceful
Everyone's got this one right. No, I've never been nosy, and people do trust me.
*patient
With others, yes. Not so good with myself I admit.
*conventional in some ways, eccentric in others
You got it. I have a carefully constructed conventional facade, that somehow so many see right through. ;)
Not bad.
