We're watching Legends of the Fall.

I truly loathe this movie. It's utterly overblown, manipulative emotional crap. I hate the music, the way the strings wind up at just the "right" moments. I really hate the cliched plot and thin emotions.

It's only worth watching because the cinematography is beautiful, and so are the actors.

Wow. This movie sucks. And I'm watching with someone who loves it.

I remember now. The last time I watched it, I walked out.

*whimpers*

ETA: Maybe someone will die dramatically and the movie will end soon. Please.

ETA2: Ugh. And the boys are commenting over it, like this is a good movie. Kill me now.

ETA3: Oh, the movie keeps getting worse and worse. This is lame. Please, somebody die of consumption.

ETA4: My god. What did they do? Write a list of cliches and just hit them one by one? *gah! Sporks eyes out.*

ETA5: Aha! Not consumption! A stroke! Damn it, he's not dead. Oh right, the movie ends when the woman dies of consumption. Well, maybe I can hurry things along. (Takes aim....)

I hated that movie with a passion. I remember sitting there in the theatre thinking it would NEVER end ... and of course my two friends loved it and thought it was the greatest movie ever made. *rolls eyes*

I'm having fantasies of burning the movie.

Ack! Another cliche! He's bootlegging, oh the bad boy.

It hurts, it really does.

How about that -- the classic moment when the barren woman who married another man meets her ex's kid, who, oh coincidence of coincidences, happens to be named after her other dead ex, just like she was going to name her son if she had kids.

The writing is horrid. Just... how can they keep a straight face?

I remember at one point I started laughing at how horribly bad it was and my friends poking me and telling me I was a bad person because it was so moving. Heh. Yeah. Moved me right out the door!

*shudders at the memory* Julia Ormond can not act either!

I don't know how they said these lines with a straight face! At one point they made sure we knew somebody was a "bad guy" by having him show a little kid his gun, telling the kid: "See this? This is what you want. This is a gentleman's gun."

The father comes running out.

It's bang your head against the wall awful. And I mostly kept a straight face through the entire thing, because these two mushball guys of mine were both deeply moved.

*thunk, thunk* I've gotta watch something dark and cynical just to get the cloying smell out of the air.

You could always mute the damn thing if the only good parts are the visuals. :o)

I wish. Oh, how I wish. It's not as though we couldn't tell what was going on without the sound. Unfortunately I'm watching it with [livejournal.com profile] wildernessguru and The Puppy, both of whom, though men, are big saps.

Oh dear lord, we have the baby born...

Ahahahahahahahaha! Of course the heroine can't have children. Just when I forgot a cliche, they bring up another one.

I love them, too. And I'm trying to laugh at their movie. Not out loud at least.

My father summed that one up quite nicely. "It's like a soap opera. With guns."

He's so right. But this is keeping me from Stargate writing, because the TV's in the same room as the computer. So very frustrating.

Oh dear lord. He now has to serve 30 days in prison for hurting the guy who shot his wife... but yet, his evil twin brother has not appeared. Is someone going to drop into a coma?

It's like a train wreck. You know what's gonna happen, but you can't stop watching.

Go for A River Runs Through It, when given a choice. It's got just as much Brad Pitt and is slightly less dramatic.

I don't know, all I remember is that everyone dies, by the end. I think I was glad about it.

I was disappointed when a few people were left standing. I wanted them all dead.

Especially Brad Pitt.

Doesn't he die? Damn it.

Well, if you truly want offing, he does die in the aforementioned movie. Just, you know, splice them together. They have the same general themes. He just waves a flyrod about instead of riding horses.

Please, somebody die of consumption.

This reminds me of a performance of King Lear I went to see once. The acting and direction ws awful. The only person in the whole thing who could act was the actress who played Regan, poor woman. It was so bad that my theatre-buff friend fell asleep. My other friend started grinning about half way through. When asked why she replied: "I just remembered that they die at the end."

It really was. As I recall I saw Legends of the Fall once. I say saw. Let it play in the background while I did something interesting might be more accurate. I missed a big chunk out of the middle so I wasn't quite sure what was going on at the end. I think it made it more interesting.
