I have two favors to ask of you.

First: Vote.

Second: Post about the Livejournal representative election. Urge your friendslist to vote and then post about the vote.

If massive numbers of fandomers surge to vote, then we will have our pick of fandom candidates. Instead of being a race between an anti-fandom candidate, [livejournal.com profile] jameth and fandom candidate [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy, we can have a race between [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy and [livejournal.com profile] rm.

I know we can easily reach 14,000 fandomers. I've added up the f-lists of those who've posted about the vote already. And you don't have to wait. Because you can change your mind between now and Thursday.

The three top fandom candidates:

[livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy
[livejournal.com profile] rm
[livejournal.com profile] vichan

As of this moment, the numbers are:

[livejournal.com profile] jameth - 2508 (17.8%)
[livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy - 3785 (26.9%)
[livejournal.com profile] rm - 1522 (10.8%)
[livejournal.com profile] vichan - 707 (5.0%)

I've nothing against this guy personally, but I don't like his paranoid campaign and troll history.
[livejournal.com profile] jameth attacked fandom once he fell behind, accusing us of sockpuppeting with up to 200 puppets per fandomer (seriously?) all based on an "anonymous tip." (Other moments that smack of conspiracy theories include fears that LJ is locking in votes and [livejournal.com profile] jameth blaming [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy for a supporter being kicked off IRC chat by burr86. Let's not forget the backhanded pre-emptive swipes at all the candidates, with the caption "I don't think _my_ platform is going to change. Not sure about anyone else's, though." Not someone I would want to work with. For more paranoia: He now fears Legomymalfoy's ahead because the LJ support team doesn't like him.)

Longstanding fandomers like [livejournal.com profile] telesilla (whom you might remember from her reporting of strikethrough and FanLib) and [livejournal.com profile] caras_galadhon and others, remind us [livejournal.com profile] jameth is a known troll, while [livejournal.com profile] bethbethbeth points out the strongly anti-fandom attitude of his supporters, which he's made no effort to contradict.

But hey, let's plague an epileptic's journal with flashing icons!
So I guess it should come as no surprise that his supporters are deliberately posting flashing icons in the comments of an epileptic's journal. At least one other epileptic has been affected, so turn off graphics if you click to [livejournal.com profile] rydra_wong's journal. The [livejournal.com profile] bigdecision08 community which is run by three [livejournal.com profile] jameth supporters has posted about this, unfortunately directing [livejournal.com profile] jameth's supporters to her journal. I've asked [livejournal.com profile] jameth what, since he's seeking a leadership role and has been comfortable telling people to vote for him in all three categories, does he have to say about this? So far, although he's fine with directing people to vote for him and then null out in all categories, not a peep. To [livejournal.com profile] rydra_wong it's not his problem. Nice guy. ETA: I asked him about it and he replied "what post?" This guy's totally full of shit. He'd already replied to [livejournal.com profile] rydra_wong's post several times. He's attempting to run on his RL credentials, but I've learned in comments here that someone who's worked with him IRL "does not have complimentary things to say about his skills with dealing with people."

I've collected endorsements of [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy here.

I've collected endorsements of [livejournal.com profile] rm here.

We've got great candidates. The current second-place candidate is someone I don't want, I don't know about you. He is anti-fandom.

Will you retract your statement that nobody would have that many and apologize, now?

Likely not.

I accept that there is one person with a highly unusual 70 accounts. *gracious nod* I can see where everyone got that. (I'm just as astounded as the rest of that thread (http://news.livejournal.com/106731.html?thread=68522219#t68522219).)

I do not, however, think you should accuse her of changing her single account email from one to 70 hotmail accounts, and accuse her voting 70 times without proof. As far as I can tell, she hasn't even posted since April.

I haven't accused her of anything. Can you cite the post where I did?

All I've said is that there are many RP'ers with many accounts. She's one. My friend is another. I'm certain there are quite a few. My friend admitted to voting with hers, but again, you need not take my word for it. Occam's Razor applies.

So, yet again, we have another strawman argument taken down.

I appreciate your admission, sincerely.

You say it here (http://icarusancalion.livejournal.com/758398.html?thread=11031166#t11031166).

Have you changed your mind? You no longer think that she must have changed all those 70 accounts to one email address and voted 70 times?

That's not an accusation, it's an explanation of how it can be done.

Clearly, we are done.

I've been asking you for evidence of your accusation. Over and over.

You don't have any except your RL friends (sorry, unless I have more than your word, that's not enough for me, although it might be for your friends) and a screencap of non-RPG players who might have one or two additional accounts.

Let's use an example. My car can be stolen. But it's still sitting there in front of my building and hasn't been.

If you level accusations at people, you have to prove it.

Again, we're done.

As a candidate, I emailed LJ directly. The issue has been acknowledged.

I invite you to now stop hounding me.

From: [identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com
You're posting in my journal and I'm hounding you?

You've made accusations of voter fraud. I've asked you for proof. You've been unable provide proof, although I understand you wanting to protect your friends.

You need to provide evidence to support your accusations.

Date: 2008-05-27 01:27 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cambler.livejournal.com
You've had proof, to the tune of screen caps representing approximately 40 fraudulent votes.

If there are 40 fraudulent votes from people willing to state such in public, I think that clearly shows that there are a vast number more from people unwilling.

And with the acknowledgment of LJ that this is, indeed, an issue, it really doesn't matter what you, personally, believe, even in the face of proof.

It doesn't matter where you hound, you're still hounding. Every time an issue has been put to rest, you pick a new one, and continue to blindly deny the proof even when put in front of you.

I had thought we were having a reasoned discussion. I see now that I was wrong.

I've seen screencaps of three people joking about it. I looked into them, and they're not RPGers. [livejournal.com profile] leah_lightwing's number of LJs is surprising and uncommon. Unheard of, in fact. And all of her RP journals go to the same email address.

From the very beginning I've said that it's possible for people to have a couple sockpuppets on all sides. But what you've accused these people of -- unless I've misunderstood you -- is a massive voter fraud with 70 to 200 RPG journals per person.

That's what I've asked you for proof of. You haven't provided any. Unless you mean to say that you have evidence that [livejournal.com profile] leah_lightwing has voted 70 times.

As I said, I don't know Leah. The 70 and 200 are two people I do know. You can pretend that they don't exist, as I've said.

Just the screencaps I've seen account for about 40 fraudulent votes. From the email response I got back from LJ, apparently there are more. LJ says they're aware of the issue and may take action, or may not. That makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

And now I'm off to dinner.

I won't bother you any longer, I've taken more than enough of your time.

Date: 2008-05-27 01:56 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com
And yet again, you still don't provide evidence.

"I've seen it," you say.
"I have friends who did it," you say.
"It's possible," you say.
"I have screencaps somewhere," you say.

Yet. No actual evidence.

C'mon. Put it on the table if you have 40 fraudulent votes. What does it take to get you to provide evidence rather than vague allegations?

Strawman-? I don't think that means what you think it means. I'm asking you for evidence to support your accusation.

So far we have a RL friend of yours who's admitted to voting with 70 accounts. Then, from [livejournal.com profile] julieannie, we have a different person who has exactly 70 accounts.

You're slandering the ethics of [livejournal.com profile] leah_lightwing with no basis except that she has 70 accounts.

Really, your leaps of logic should qualify you for some kind of Olympics.

Every time one point is shown to be contrary to your argument, you move to another one.

I'm done with it.

As it turns out, my emails with LJ directly have finally been met with an acknowledgment that, indeed, the issue is real. Not that they're going to do anything about it, but at least they've finally noted that it's happening.

That's good enough for me, and should even be good enough proof for you, once you hear it from LJ, directly.

So again, we're done. Have a wonderful rest-of-the-holiday weekend, if I may presume you're in the United States.

From: [identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com
The leap you are asking of me qualifies for the Olympics.

Why are you so shocked that someone's asked you for proof of the massive voter fraud that you claim? Why is it a surprise to you that someone isn't taking your word for it?

Date: 2008-05-27 01:29 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cambler.livejournal.com
How many screen caps of fraudulent voting do you need to see before you'll acknowledge that you're wrong?

Don't take my word for it. The screen caps and admissions are all over the site at this point.

You truly live in a fantasy world.

There are very few things in this world that I take on faith, so don't be offended that I don't take you at your word either. I have about 30 messages from you today as I've chased you in circles, trying to get at the evidence.

The moment you say that you have screencaps -- you go to dinner.

I'm starting to think that you're pulling my leg.
